Wynyard Hall Mirror State Room

With seating of up to 100, Wynyard Hall’s Mirror Room is surrounded by fourteen mirrors, 27 feet (8 metres) high and has a hand-painted, gilded ceiling and makes a magnificent setting for a civil ceremony, if this is your prefered option.

Wynyard Hall’s Ballroom has a civil ceremony seating capacity of up to 150 and can be used for your reception dining and evening celebrations.

Wynyard Hall – Fit for a King…and Queen

King Edward VII visited Wynyard Hall; he was born on 9 November 1841 in Buckingham Palace. King Edward VII was the eldest son of Queen Victoria and her husband, Prince Albert. Over the Wynyard Estate’s 800-year history, it has welcomed notable historical figures including H.M. Queen Elizabeth II, the Duke of Wellington, Sir Winston Churchill, Sir Walter Scott, Lady Margaret Thatcher, Benjamin Disraeli and Charles Dickens.

As you drive into the Wynyard Estate, past the golf course, you will notice several large houses built in the late 20th century. Notable residents have included footballers Alan Shearer and Kevin Keagan.

Directly accessible from inside Wynyard Hall’s Statue Gallary, Mirror Room, Ball Room and Conservatory is Wynyard Hall’s Private Chapel. Dating from the 12th to 18th centuries, with stained glass windows and Italian marble walls it makes the perfect setting for a religious wedding ceremony.

The Wynyard Hall Chapel has a capacity of up to 120 guests seated on pews and additional seating of up to 200 can be provided in the Chapel’s Monument area.

Wynyard Hall’s Wellington Restaurant

Perhaps enjoy a magnificent morning-after breakfast with your guests in Wynyard Hall’s historic Wellington Restaurant?

The Duke of Wellington was a regular visitor to Wynyard Hall and in 1827, the then owner, the Marquess of Londonderry, built a 127 feet (39 metres) high obelisk in the Duke’s honour on the grounds of Wynyard Hall. It was built to celebrate the Duke of Wellington’s victory at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 and his fondness of Wynyard Hall. The Duke of Wellington Obelisk is visible from the Wynyard Hall Estate’s impressive and extensive private drive as you arrive or depart. The current owner and resident of Wynyard Hall is Sir John Hall.

Accommodating up to 28 guests around a large table, The Londonderry Room, with an adjacent bar room is the smallest of Wynyard Hall’s State Rooms and makes a good choice for inspirational meetings and private dinners.
